Jounieh Festival Walk " Turning Disability into Ability ” Advocating for inclusion and accessibility

June 24, 2013

On June 24th, 2013, and as part of the Jounieh Festival, Michael walked with the community from Fouad Chehab Stadium under the motto “Turning Disability into Ability.” His goal was to realize inclusion and accessibility by providing facilities to people with special needs, and thus forgoing the label: ‘disabled.’ Through this walk, the Jounieh Municipality pledged to equip the city with sidewalk ramps and parking spaces. Michael at that stage believed his work conductive to abolishing ‘disability’ by allowing it access and space in public. Yet, his vision grew more elaborate as he began to realize that people are often ‘disabled’ in their minds and not their bodies.
