Michael Haddad achieved his third world record by climbing the highest peak in Lebanon and the Levant area, the Black Summit, on March 8, 2015. He climbed to an altitude of 3088 meters and reached the summit to set a new record on his list.
Under the patronage of Lebanese Army Commander General Jean KAHWAJI; Michael snowshoed the summit defying the extreme environment, strong wind, and freezing weather. Despite all falls andenormous difficulties, he went on, carrying the Lebanese “unity flag”, |
and backed up by the Army with whom he has trained and forged strong bonds of pride and admiration.
In parallel to Michael’s climb; the Lebanese Army - Rangers Regimentrace did their annual race “Raid des Cedres race”. This annual sports race is the highest ski-mountaineering competition in the Near East which unites civilians with soldiers. Michael, through completing the climbing challenge, was given the honor to embed the message of the race. |
Message
Calling for an action against the disaster of climate change; he insisted on climbing the summit until he reached the end point. Michael believes that "the dilemma of climate change can be solved if each person starts by carrying out simple daily actions. The raise in the temperature of earth with time will result in melting the snow covering the Lebanese mountains, and many other areas worldwide. So, it’s time to take immediate action".
On the other hand, Michael was performing in parallel with Rangers Raid of the Cedars Race to send a message of peace, compassion, and humanitarianism. Michael addressed the people gathered to |
witness this success by saying “Today, the Commander General Jean KAHWAJI urged me to transform disability into ability just as the army turns war into peace. Yes, indeed, our army is a weapon of peace not war. The army doesn’t wreak havoc; the army rushes to uproot the seeds of war planted by people before they sprout. The army is the guardian of peace ensuring that humanitarianism prevails, because without it, destruction and terrorism prevails. The general is right: willpower is the key to prosperity, and the army is the key to peace. I, Michael Haddad, will walk”.

Scientific Perspective
The studies to revolutionize the exoskeleton which Michael used at his first achievement were significantly advanced at this stage. The Lebanese American University students from the School of Engineering who were in the process of testing and elaborating the exoskeleton accompanied Michael throughout the whole challenge.
|
During this climb; Michael was able to test the first phase of this exoskeleton which was made out of carbon fiber and 10 times lighter than the one he previously had. This exoskeleton was executed by Phoenix Company.
